The Very Hungry Caterpillar Pop-up
We have a long-standing relationship with Penguin Random House, working closely in design and production with this best-selling book publisher.
PRH approached Paper Engine in 2008 to design and engineer a pop-up edition of the world-wide bestseller, The Very Hungry Caterpillar. In this new pop-up edition fans were able experience the classic story in a completely new and interactive way as the intrepid caterpillar pops off the page, crawls along branches and, finally, turns into an extraordinary butterfly. The classic story is told across seven beautifully engineered pop-up spreads with tabs to pull, dials to turn and flaps to lift.
In addition to engineering the book, our head paper engineer also spent time with the printer to ensure the quality of the pop-up was maintained throughout the production process.
